World Water Congress 2017
Lola Rey gave an oral presentation, Historic droughts in the UK: What can we learn to improve agricultural drought management in the future?, at the World Water Congress in Cancun (May 2017). She presented the work done by the Cranfield team of Historic Droughts in the session “Water Security in a Changing World: Managing Risks”, focusing on the data collection activities and some preliminary analysis. She described the many insights got from interviews with farmers and Environment Agency staff, and from the agricultural Historic Droughts Drought Inventory. She highlighted the importance of learning from the past to improve drought management in the UK, and how the Historic Droughts project is contributing to this.
